A Pirate's Quest (for his family heirloom peg leg) is the tale of a one-legged pirate and his quest to find a very special peg leg. The peg leg is a family heirloom, which was passed down from his grandpappy to his pappy to him. And he loses it on a tiny lake far from the sea. To find the leg, he must follow the moving water, from lakes to rivers and eventually out to the ocean. He braves stormy weather, searches mangrove forests and swims along coral reefs. It is a story about never giving up. Laura and Robert Sams are the authors of the book, which was inspired by The Peg Leg Song from their movie
Over 50 Oil Paintings
Heiner Hertling painted over 50 original oil paintings for the book. He started with sketches, and then Robert Sams posed as a pirate to be the the model for the pages. Robert wore the same costume featured in the movie The Riddle in a Bottle.
